Hapag-Lloyd introduces additional charge for feeder traffic in Europe and Ukraine

Due to the escalation around the Strait of Hormuz and a sharp increase in fuel prices, Hapag-Lloyd announced an additional payment.

We are talking about the Emergency Operations Charge (EOO/EOD) – to cover the costs of third-party feeder operators, the company reported.

The reason was the increase in fuel prices, which increased the costs of feeder operators. In particular, the current EFS covers only fuel costs within the framework of Hapag-Lloyd services, and additional costs of third-party operators require a separate fee.

The additional fee will be introduced for ports in Southern Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Black Sea (Italy, Spain, Greece, Romania, Ukraine, etc.).

It is planned that the introduction of the payment will start from May 8 for most shipments, and from May 27 for FMC-regulated destinations.

How to apply:

• EOO (Origin) – at the port of departure;

• EOD (Destination) — at the port of destination;

• Applies to all types of containers;

• Paid by the party paying the freight.

Fee level:

• average: $50/TEU;

• port variation: $10–60/TEU.

For Ukraine:

• Chornomorsk — $30/TEU.
