Humenyuk: Ukraine is repurposing air defense systems to protect ports
All Ukrainian ports are now ready to ship grain under the Grain Agreement, if this issue is resolved politically.
This opinion was shared by the spokeswoman of the operational command “South” Nataliya Gumenyuk on Radio Svoboda.
At the same time, according to Humenyuk, Ukraine is repurposing the work of the Air Defense in order to strengthen the protection of the port infrastructure and be able to repel Russian attacks.
“As far as future defense is concerned, we continue our work on repurposing air defense. Work continues at all levels, including with international partners, in order to strengthen us technically with means of air anti-missile defense, which will be able to counteract the types of weapons that the enemy uses in this direction,” Humenyuk said.
In general, after Russia withdrew from the Grain Agreement, the Russian military carried out seven attacks on the port infrastructure of southern Ukraine.
“Quite powerful attacks, with which they tried to damage both port production facilities and grain warehouses, and the very object of transportation, that is, grain. The attacks were carried out using various types of weapons from different directions and were maximally focused on achieving a positive result,” she said.
