Hydroelectric power station explosion: 150 tons of machine oil got into the Dnipro

At least 150 tons of engine oil fell into the Dnipro during the night after the Russians blew up the Kakhovska HPP. There is a risk of further leakage.

On Tuesday, June 6, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held an emergency meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) regarding the situation at Kakhovskaya HPP.

The members of the National Security Council were informed that at least 150 tons of machine oil got into the Dnipro, and there is a risk of further leakage of more than 300 tons, the Office of the President reports.

“Participants of the meeting agreed on a set of international measures, including the convening of a meeting of the UN Security Council, an appeal to international environmental organizations, to the International Criminal Court, as such actions of the Russians contain clear signs of violation of the Geneva Convention,” the message says.

As previously reported by USM, on the night of June 6, around 2:50 a.m., Russian terrorists carried out an internal detonation of the structures of the Kakhovska HPP.
