Icebreaker “Noosfera” arrived at the Ukrainian station “Akademik Vernadsky”

The research vessel “Noosfera” delivered the 30th Ukrainian Antarctic expedition to the Akademik Vernadskyi station.
This happened late in the evening of March 15, according to the National Antarctic Research Center.
“Autumn has already begun in Antarctica, which means the weather is very changeable. So the polar explorers and the crew of the “Noosfera” are in a hurry to unload the vessel,” the scientists said.
It should be noted that due to the relief of the seabed, the icebreaker cannot approach the station’s berths, so the vessel stopped nearby, in the Penola Strait. From there, all cargo will be transported to Vernadskyi by motorboats.

As previously reported by USM, this year, for the first time in history, a Ukrainian icebreaker is providing Antarctic research for the United States.
