Illegal soybean exports to Turkey and Romania stopped at the port of Odesa

The scheme was stopped by detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Odesa region.
Detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security exposed an agricultural trader who was trying to illegally export more than 7.5 thousand tons of soybeans abroad. This was reported by the press service of the Bureau.
According to the department, the defendants changed the documents on the origin of agricultural products in order to create the appearance of legal transactions and avoid paying taxes. The cargo was sent to Turkey and Romania. The export was planned to be carried out through supply chains with fictitious enterprises and individual entrepreneurs.
During searches in the Odesa port and at grain terminals in the Chernivtsi region, law enforcement officers seized more than 6 thousand tons of soybeans already loaded onto a ship, as well as 1.6 thousand tons in 32 railway cars. The total value of the seized products is estimated at more than 103 million UAH.
“BEB continues to take measures to stop illegal schemes for the export of agricultural products and compensate for the losses caused to the state budget. Thus, since the beginning of 2025, we have managed to return to the treasury almost UAH 432 million in unpaid taxes from the sale of agricultural products,” said Serhiy Muntyan, head of the BEB Territorial Department in the Odesa region.
USM also previously wrote that in Mykolaiv, the director of the enterprise was fined almost UAH 250 million for illegal grain exports.
