In Finland, a port operator subordinate to the Russian Federation was exposed
The Finnish operator Multi-Link Terminals is half owned by the Russian sub-sanctioned company Global Ports.
The port operator Multi-Link Terminals, which handles cargo in the ports of Vuosarri (Helsinki) and Kotka, is half owned by the French company CMA Terminals and half by the Russian company Global Ports. This is reported in an investigation by Yle.
Global Ports is one of the largest port operators in the Russian Federation. The chairman of the board of Multi-Link Terminals and the general director of Global Ports, Russian Albert Likholyot, is under the sanctions of Ukraine.
The main shareholder of Global Ports is the Delo group of companies, in which a minority stake belongs to Rosatom’s subsidiary, Atomenergoprom JSC. One of the co-owners of the Delo group is Russian oligarch and former State Duma deputy Sergey Shishkarev. His name is also included in Ukraine’s sanctions list.
As reported in the Yle investigation, the port operator Multi-Link Terminals is not the only company in Finland that has ties to the Russian Federation. There are more than 40 companies controlled by Russians in the transport industry alone.
Recently, USM wrote that Finland suspended the operation of maritime checkpoints on the border with the Russian Federation.
Earlier, Finland announced a threat from tankers with Russian oil.
