In January, UZ transported 2.7 million grain cargoes to the ports of Ukraine
In January, Ukrzaliznytsia transported a record volume of 3.93 million tons of grain cargo. Of these, 2.7 million tons were sent to seaports.
According to preliminary data, JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” transported 3.93 million tons of grain cargo in January 2024, which is a record figure, writes Interfax .
“This is the best figure in the last two years, since the full-scale invasion. We transported more only in November 2021 and January 2022,” said Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of the University of Warsaw.
Of the indicated volume, 2.7 million tons of grain cargoes (80%) were transported in the direction of sea ports of Ukraine, 661 thousand tons (20%) in the direction of western land crossings.
In addition, in January, UZ transported 146.3 thousand tons of sunflower oil for export. Of this volume, 5.11 thousand tons went to ports and 140.9 thousand tons (95%) went to western land crossings.
The volume of transportation of meal and cake in January amounted to 237.6 thousand tons, of which 209.2 thousand tons went to the western land crossings, and 28.4 thousand tons went to the ports.
As previously reported by USM, Ukrzaliznytsia increased the volume of cargo transportation due to the maritime corridor. In general, the company transported more than 14 million tons of cargo in January, which is a quarter more than in January last year.
