In Russia, the icebreaker “Cathrine the Great” was on fire: there is one decesed person
In Vladivostok, Russia, a unique icebreaker caught fire during repairs.
The incident occurred at the “Dalzavod” shipyard in Vladivostok. The multi-functional supply ship “Ekaterina Velyka” caught fire during repairs, the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation reported.
One Russian died as a result of the fire. Three more people are in hospital.
The ship “Cathrine the Great” was built in 2017. The icebreaker was launched only in December 2020. This is the main order of 4 multifunctional supply vessels of reinforced ice class Icebreaker 7 for Rosnefteflot.
The ship is 106 meters long and 22 meters wide. The maximum ice draft is 8 meters, and the board height is 11 meters. The ship’s crew can number 49 people.
