In Russia, the modernization of the large anti-submarine ship “Admiral Chabanenko” is under threat of disruption

The Admiral Chabanenko military-industrial complex may face the same fate as the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, which was recently scrapped.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Recall that the Admiral Chabanenko was to be converted into a frigate to combat NATO submarines.

Despite the fact that work began back in 2014 with ambitious statements about the modernization of weapons, after more than 10 years the ship has not yet returned to service.

“Another deadline has been missed without explanation, although the reasons are obvious: economic recession, personnel shortage, degradation of the Russian defense industry,” the Center noted.

The Center also recalled that this is far from the only failure – a similar situation occurred with the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov, which instead of returning to combat was actually scrapped.

“The fiasco with the Admiral Chabanenko is yet another proof of the Kremlin’s inability to maintain a fleet even at the Soviet level. Despite aggressive rhetoric, Russia is not able not only to build new ships, but also to maintain the remnants of the USSR’s legacy,” experts concluded.

Earlier, USM reported that Russia’s only aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, may be decommissioned.
