In the Baltic Sea, a Russian boat came dangerously close to a Polish gas pipeline+

The boat drifted for 20 minutes near the gas pipeline that transports gas from the offshore platform to the shore.

The incident occurred on October 1 at around 6:30 a.m. The Border Guard Service detected the boat using surveillance systems and responded promptly, Ukrinform writes.

The crew was ordered to leave the area, after which the vessel sailed away. The Polish Interior Ministry stressed that in such cases, the services act immediately and in close coordination to guarantee the security of strategic energy infrastructure.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk, speaking at the summit of the European Political Community in Copenhagen, confirmed the incident and noted that similar actions by Russian vessels in the Baltic Sea are recorded almost every week. He stressed that Poland should strengthen security measures and support Ukraine in its resistance to Russian aggression.

As USM reported, the day before, French authorities detained two senior crew members of a Russian “shadow fleet” tanker suspected of involvement in the launch of drones in Denmark.
