In Ukraine, a reduction in the grain and oil crops harvest is predicted
The Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) estimates the potential harvest of grain and oil crops in 2024 at the level of 76.1 million tons.
Last year, the indicators of grain and oil crops harvest in Ukraine amounted to 82.6 million tons, the УЗА. press service reported.
The potential reduction of the harvest in the new season will be caused by the reduction of the sown area mainly under grain crops due to the unfavorable price situation on the world market and relatively expensive export logistics.
“Under such conditions, exports in the 2024/25 season may amount to about 43.7 million tons. In the current season, according to UGA, the export of grain and oilseeds can reach 53.1 million tons under the conditions of the smooth operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor and the Danube route,” the message says.
UGA predicts the wheat harvest in 2024 at the level of 20 million tons (22 million tons in 2023), the corn harvest at 26.3 million tons, which is 3 million tons less than last year, sunflower at the level of 13.7 million tons
At the same time, the processing of sunflower for oil can reach almost 13.6 million tons against 13.5 million tons according to the results of the current MY.
Earlier, USM reported that last week, freight rates for the transportation of grain by barges from the Danube ports of Ukraine mostly decreased.
