India will simplify the import of grain from Ukraine

In India, the procedure for importing Ukrainian grain will be eased — in particular, Ukrainian traders will be exempted from paying an additional fee.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare of India included Ukraine in the list of countries that do not treat grain with methyl bromide fumigants. This means that Ukrainian agricultural products are recognized as safe, and exporters from Ukraine are exempted from paying additional payments. “Ukrinform” writes about this with reference to the State Production and Consumer Service.

Since 2016, Ukraine has been working on the liberalization of the import of Ukrainian grain to India. Negotiations were held at many levels and with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

It will be recalled that at the end of 2022, India entered the top ten importers of Ukrainian agricultural products, having purchased food worth 794 million dollars.
