Intelligence: Ships transporting military equipment from Syria entered a Russian port

A convoy of Russian ships transporting military equipment from Syria has already arrived in the port of Baltiysk.

This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

Thus, on March 17, the British Navy recorded the movement of a group of Russian military and cargo ships through the English Channel (48 km from the southern coast of the United Kingdom).

As of March 24, the convoy is already in the port of Baltiysk.

The convoy included: cargo ships Maia-1 (under Western sanctions for transporting artillery shells from the DPRK to Russia), Sparta IV and Siyanie Severa (suspected of transporting weapons from Syria), the Russian destroyer Severomorsk, as well as the Navy landing ship Alexander Shabalin.

“On the night of March 16, the Russian destroyer Severomorsk, under the supervision of the Belgian patrol ship Castor (actions within the framework of NATO’s standard practice of monitoring suspected violators of shipping rules), crossed the North Sea and entered the English Channel. In the Atlantic, Severomorsk met a convoy consisting of Sparta IV, Siyanie severa, and Alexander Shabalin, which left the Syrian port of Tartus on March 2,” the report says.

The department noted that the transportation of weapons by Russia also confirms the lack of agreement with the new Syrian authorities on maintaining the Russian presence at the naval base in Tartus.
