Kazakhstan will ban the shipment of oil products by rail to the russian port of Taman
The largest operator of the trunk railway network of Kazakhstan will ban the transportation of oil products to the russian port of Taman on the Black Sea.
The operator “Kazakhstan Railways” will ban transportation to the port from May 8, Reuters reports.
The state railway operator’s document, which was issued to shippers, does not indicate the reasons for the ban.
According to traders, the terminal continues to process petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas.
Russian Railways also limited shipments to Taman from May 3 until further notice. The decision was made after a fire at a fuel station near the Crimean Bridge.
The processing capacity of the Taman Oil Transshipment Hub is 20 million tons of crude oil, oil products and liquefied gas per year. Last year, it processed 7.3 million tons of oil products from russian federation, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
Last year, Kazakh exports through Taman reached more than 1 million tons of fuel oil, as well as about 230,000 tons of liquefied gas and about 74,000 tons of vacuum gas oil.
