Kenya received the first batch of food as part of Food from Ukraine

The total volume of the consignment of food is over 3,600 tons, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine повідомило reported.
The cargo was delivered in coordination with the UN World Food Program, which will ensure its further distribution among the most vulnerable categories of people, in particular refugees in the Dadaab and Kakuma camps. The project was implemented with the assistance of Slovenia and Austria.
The official ceremony of handing over the cargo was held at the port of Mombasa with the participation of the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Kenya Yuriy Tokar, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia Kristina Radej (part-time in Kenya), and representatives of WFP in Kenya.
Ukraine consistently continues to implement the Food from Ukraine initiative in cooperation with international partners and specialized organizations of the UN system.
Reference. Food from Ukraine is a new phase of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, launched in 2022 to strengthen Ukraine’s role in combating the global food crisis. Its main idea is to supply value-added products to countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and other regions on the brink of famine, with an emphasis on ensuring sustainable logistics. Since 2022, over 324,000 tons of agricultural products (wheat and flour, corn, peas, oil) have been sent to 19 countries in Africa and Asia as part of Ukraine’s humanitarian initiatives: Bangladesh, Djibouti, Congo, Yemen, Ethiopia, Zambia, Kenya, Mauritania, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Chad and Pakistan. As a result of three Grain from Ukraine summits and one Food from Ukraine summit, over $380 million in donor funds were raised.
Earlier, USM reported that Ukraine sent wheat to Pakistan as part of the Grain from Ukraine initiative.
