“Kinzhal” strike on the port of Mykolaiv: the missile hit the ground

For the first time during the full-scale invasion, Russia used the “Kinzhal” hypersonic missile on Mykolaiv, but the attack was ineffective.

On Tuesday, June 3, the Russians struck the port of Mykolaiv with a Kh-47 Kinzhal hypersonic missile launched from a MiG-31K fighter jet from the Kursk region. This was reported by the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Mlitary Administration, Vitaly Kim, writes “Novyny N”.

No one was injured as a result of the attack, and no significant damage was recorded. The missile hit the ground near the port, which has not been functioning since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

“This is the first time that the “Kinzhal” was used, the strike was on the port infrastructure, without significant damage, without casualties. This is not in the city, this is in the suburbs… In my opinion, the enemy did not achieve its goal thanks to our Defense Forces,” Kim noted.

He added that electronic warfare (EW) equipment probably worked, and also suggested that enemy intelligence had outdated or incorrect information.

“There is no understanding why they attacked the port infrastructure, which has not been working for 3 years… I think the Russians will soon write in their public forums that they destroyed 5 generals and 5 admirals,” he commented ironically.

The strike was the first use of the “Kinzhal” against Mykolaiv during the entire Great War. The spokesman for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, also confirmed that the target of the attack was the port.

As USM reported, a month ago, experts assessed the damage from the shelling of the shipyard in Mykolaiv.
