Kuleba called on businesses to join the Council on the Development of a Competitive Environment in Ports


On Wednesday, May 28, a roundtable discussion was held in Odesa on issues of promoting the development of a competitive environment in seaports.

The event was opened by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba, the Ministry of Development reports.

He emphasized that in the conditions of a full-scale war, the development of logistics, modernization of ports and stable operation of the railway are critically important for the Ukrainian economy.

“The development of a competitive environment is a priority of state policy in the port infrastructure sector. We are working on creating clear, understandable and transparent rules. On solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs and open the industry to investment. In this context, it is important to have a permanent and effective platform for dialogue with business. This is exactly the function that the Coordination Council for the Development of a Competitive Environment in Seaports will perform – a tool that allows us to jointly develop practical solutions and submit them for consideration by the government,” Oleksiy Kuleba emphasized.

The Minister called on the business community to join this work, in particular through participation in working groups.

The event was also attended by Deputy Ministers Andriy Kashuba and Oleksiy Balesta, Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia Oleksandr Pertsovsky, Chairman of the USPA Oleksandr Semirha, representatives of business and industry companies.

Particular attention was paid to the work of the Coordination Council on the Development of a Competitive Environment in Seaports, headed by Andriy Kashuba.

In turn, Oleksiy Balesta emphasized that it is important to maintain a balance in the interaction of ports and railways and to avoid artificial competition between ports.

Oleksiy Pertsovsky also presented a number of technical solutions and approaches that allow balancing the interests of ports and railways.
