Kuleba: protection of port infrastructure is a matter of Ukraine’s economy

During the meeting with the President of Ukraine on the security situation in the Odesa region, the protection of ports was also discussed.

On Tuesday, April 15, in Odesa, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting on the security situation in the region and its socio-economic development.
The focus is on the safety of people, protection of the sky over the region from Russian attacks, the situation with grain exports, the work of regional enterprises and support for people.
Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba emphasized that the protection of port infrastructure is also important. After all, this is a matter of Ukraine’s economy and global food security.
“Since the launch of the Ukrainian sea corridor, 116 million tons of cargo have been transported. Of these, more than 73 million tons of grain are to countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. At the same time, since the summer of 2023 alone, Russia has launched more than half a thousand missiles at our ports, damaging about 400 port infrastructure facilities,” said Oleksiy Kuleba.
According to the president, work is currently underway to strengthen the air shield over the Odesa region. The state is also constantly working on security guarantees, including at sea, in the sky and on land.
It should be noted that during the meeting, those present also discussed logistics, export development, expansion of economic support programs and involvement of international partners in the restoration of destroyed production facilities.
As previously reported by USM, the USPA announced the priorities for the development of ports for 2025. Among the key ones are infrastructure development, digitalization of processes and port security issues.
