Maritime corridor record: the ship transported 190,000 tons of metal products


For the entire time of operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor, Captain Leonidas set a record. The ship transported 190,000 tons of metal products.

This was reported in the Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine.

Thus, on September 16, 2023, the processing of the merchant fleet and cargo within the Ukrainian maritime corridor began. On this day, the first vessels Resilient Africa and Aroyat passed through the loading corridor to the ports of Great Odesa.

During the operation of the corridor, the dry cargo ship Captain Leonidas set an absolute record, transporting 190,000 tons of metallurgical products from the Port of Pivdenny.

“This vessel became not only the largest in terms of size, but also transported the maximum tonnage in the entire history of the corridor,” USPA noted.

Peak activity occurred on February 18, 2024. On this day, the largest number of vessels that passed through the corridor per day was recorded – 40 vessels. Of them, 16 left Ukrainian ports, and 24 entered for loading.

It will be recalled that during the entire period of operation of the corridor, 70 million tons of cargo were transported on 2,577 vessels. Of these, 46.7 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products were delivered to 48 countries around the world.
