Medvedchuk’s yacht will be auctioned for at least 130 million euros
The yacht of oligarch and “Putin’s best friend” Viktor Medvedchuk “Royal Romance” will soon be auctioned. The initial price of the lot is at least 130 million euros.
The head of ARMA, Olena Duma, said that the yacht is the beginning of the implementation of sanctions mechanisms and confiscated property, which is abroad, reports TSN.
In particular, a competition commission was created, which included employees of ARMA, the Ministries of Economy and Justice. Participants already cooperate with international auction houses and yacht brokers in Great Britain, USA, Monaco, France and UAE. An agreement will be concluded with one of these houses on the sale of the seized yacht.

Olena Duma explained that the Agency does not choose the buyer and the future owner. It chooses the auction organizer, and quite soon a tender for the sale of the asset will be announced.
The official said that during the trip to Croatia, ARMA received important documents from the police, which testify to the insurance value of the yacht.
Among them is the insurance amount of 130 million euros – this is the lowest threshold for which it will be possible to sell the yacht. Medvedchuk himself will not be able to buy it from Ukraine, nor will the representatives of the terrorist country. The buyer will be thoroughly checked so that the vessel is not bought by bogus persons.
ARMA assures that funds from the sale of the yacht will go exclusively to the defense capability of the country and the Armed Forces.
The seizure period for the “Royal Romance” yacht expires in May. So, they want to sell it in the next two months. But even if they do not make it to this deadline, there is a backup option.
In February of this year, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the sale of the seized yacht. The Agency for Search and Asset Management (ARMA) was entrusted with the implementation.
At the end of January 2024, the District Court of the city of Split (Croatia) decided to transfer the “Royal Romance” yacht to Ukraine. It is known that the ship requires annual costs of $15-20 million.
Previously, USM reported that in order to realize the arrested yacht of Viktor Medvedchuk, who is suspected of treason, it was necessary to make changes to the legislation.
