Ministry of Agrarian Policy: Ukraine exports 90% of agricultural products by sea
Ukraine continues to play an important role in guaranteeing global food security. The state transports 90% of agricultural products by sea.
In 2023, Ukrainian farmers harvested more than 70 million tons of grain and oil crops, and exported products worth almost $22 billion, said First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy Taras Vysotskyi.
According to him, it was possible to achieve such significant results thanks to the support of international partners and the establishment of exports from the ports of Great Odesa.
“The Ukrainian grain corridor shows good results. 90% of all products are exported by sea. Only in December 2023, Ukraine exported 5 million tons of grain from Odesa, one million – via the Danube and another million – in transit through the land corridor through European neighbors. Therefore, the role of Ukraine in the issue of global food security is extremely important. Especially with regard to the export of grain to African and Asian countries,” said Taras Vysotskyi.
The first deputy minister emphasized that at the same time Ukrainian farmers who suffered due to the invasion of Russia need protection.
Earlier USM reported that Latvia demands to ban the export of Russian grain. It is proposed to replace the grain of the aggressor country on the European market with agricultural products from Ukraine.
Agrarians from Lithuania sided with Ukraine the day before. According to farmers, a much bigger problem for the agricultural market is Russian grain entering the country.
