Modernization of the UDS motor ship continues: the old “stuffing” of the vessel was dismantled
The main engines and generators, pumps, cooling system of the ship “Captain Antipov” were placed in the hold.
This was reported in the press service of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company.
“Innards of the engine compartment are laid out in the hold. The team of the ship “Captain Antipov” is in no hurry to send old spare parts to scrap metal. After the restoration of the SZH, they may be needed on other non-modernized ships,” the UDS noted.
The company explained that spare parts for old engines are in short supply. They have not been released for a long time. That is why modernization is needed.
The ship’s crew said that in recent years they spent most of their time in repairs. After almost every flight, the main engines had to be disassembled.
“For a month of work – three months of downtime. So everyone is looking forward to the completion of the modernization,” the UDS said.
It should be noted that ÖSWAG specialists have already started installing new pipelines and communications. Foundations are being prepared for the placement of new engines.
