Molded: Iran will return low-quality corn to Russia
Iran plans to return about 3,000 tons of fodder corn purchased in Russia due to its poor quality.
This was stated by the head of the veterinary service of Mazanderan province, Hamza Akapur Kazemi, writes APC-Inform.
According to him, after an inspection of the ship that was transporting Russian corn, “the goods were recognized as not meeting the required organoleptic parameters due to the presence of mold, increased humidity and an unpleasant smell.”
After consultations, the local authorities decided to return the goods back to the country of origin.
In February, the head of Iran’s grain union, Kaveh Zargaran, reported that the country annually imports from 2.5 to 3 million tons of grain from Russia. According to preliminary data, the total volume of Russian grain exports in the specified direction for the first seven months (July-January) of the 2023/24 financial year amounted to 38.5 million tons, which is 23% higher than the figure for the same period last season.
As previously reported by USM, the United States imposed sanctions against the commander of the Iranian Navy.
