More than 1.5 million tons of cargo were transported to the ports by railway
Since the beginning of 2024, more than 1.5 million tons of cargo have been transported by rail to ports for export.
Since the beginning of January, 1 million 838 thousand 300 tons of goods were sent for export by railway. In particular, 1 million 523 thousand 900 tons were transported in the direction of the ports. This was reported by the deputy director of the department of commercial work of the UZ Valery Tkachev.
In general, the load volume for the 17 days of January exceeds the indicator of the previous month by 21.4%, or 289.5 thousand tons. The volume of average daily load also increased – to 106.1 thousand tons – by 8.2 thousand tons more than in December. And on January 17, a record daily load was recorded — 124.2 tons.
More than 1.6 million tons of grain crops were loaded on the railway network of Ukraine. In the total load, the share of cereals is 26%. UZ hopes that if such dynamics are maintained, it will be possible to transport at least 3 million tons of grain for export by railway.
As previously reported, more than 1,500 wagons with grain were unloaded in the ports of Greater Odessa during the day of January 17.
Recently, the Minister of Agricultural Policy, Mykola Solskyi, said that against the background of the shipping crisis in the Red Sea, the export of Ukrainian agricultural products has declined. However, over the past week, Ukraine has already begun to increase the volume of agricultural exports.
