NATO can deploy a fleet in the Black Sea to protect ships

NATO countries should deploy their units in Romania to protect merchant ships and counter Russian aggression in the Black Sea.

NATO countries should deploy their units in the Black Sea basin to protect commercial shipping and send a clear signal to Russia. Such an idea was proposed by Didier Piaton, ex-deputy commander of the NATO Joint Naval Command, at the Second Crimean Platform Security Conference, Ukrinform reports.

At the same time, Admiral of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ihor Voronchenko said that Crimea plays an important role in this war, so the military is actively working to disrupt the enemy’s logistical support on the peninsula. It is also important for Ukraine to prevent Russia from building up its forces on the mainland, in particular, near the Caspian Sea.

“We have a very insidious enemy who learns from his mistakes. They have serious electronic warfare capabilities… And over the past two years, they have continued to improve their drones and electronic warfare equipment, we need to pay more attention to this,” Voronchenko emphasized.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with the US inspectorate, is studying the components that the Russian Federation uses in its weapons. In particular, experts are looking for boards supplied to Russia by other countries. Eventually, evidence of this will be shown to the world in order to prevent the “shadow” export of dual purpose goods at the international level.

It will be recalled that the Second Black Sea Security Conference of the International “Crimean Platform” began on April 14 in Sofia. At the meeting, the participants will analyze the impact of Russian aggression on the security situation in the Black Sea-Azov region and discuss strategies for responding to existing threats.
