Netherlands intercepts two Russian ships and a submarine ahead of NATO summit

On the eve of the NATO summit, the Netherlands intercepted three Russian warships, including one submarine.

This was reported by Liga with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands.

Before the NATO summit, which was held in The Hague on June 24-25, the Dutch Navy intercepted Russian warships three times in the North Sea. The interception was carried out by the multi-purpose frigate Ms. Van Amstel.

This first happened on June 20, when the Russian frigate Admiral Grigorovich passed by the Dutch economic zone. Later, the corvette Boykiy appeared in the sea, and on the day of the NATO summit, a Kilo II-class submarine with a tugboat.

A coast guard aircraft was also deployed to escort the submarine.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense noted that they always escort Russian and Chinese ships to deter them from sabotage and espionage activities.

USM previously reported that a Russian warship “disguised itself” while escorting tankers of the shadow fleet.
