New sanctions: ships of two Russian companies will not be able to enter Norwegian ports

Norway is imposing sanctions on Russian shipping companies Norebo JSC and Murman Seafood.
The sanctions also support a corresponding decision of the European Union on May 20, the Norwegian government said in a press release.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide stressed that both companies are linked to state-sponsored Russian espionage campaigns targeting critical underwater infrastructure in Norwegian and allied waters. Such actions could create the conditions for future sabotage operations and pose a threat to the country’s security.
As part of the sanctions, the vessels of these companies will lose the right to enter Norwegian ports and stay in Norwegian territorial waters. They will also not be issued fishing licenses in the Norwegian economic zone.
The sanctions include a freeze on all assets owned, controlled or at the disposal of the companies, as well as a ban on providing them with financial or material resources.
It is expected that the sanctions against Norebo JSC and Murman Seafood will be implemented into Norwegian law in the near future.
As a reminder, the US is preparing for tough sanctions against Russia and its oil buyers.
The sanctions package includes a 500% tariff on imports from countries that purchase Russian oil, gas or uranium.
