No signals to Moscow: Germany opposes resuscitation of Nord Stream 2

The Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern said that after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there is no question of certification of the gas pipeline.
The Prime Minister of the federal land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Manuela Schwesig, spoke out against the launch of the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, the first point of which is located on the coast of her region. This is reported by Ukrinform.
“There is a clear rule in Germany, it has been in effect from the very beginning: Nord Stream 2 will not be certified if Russia crosses the red line,” Schwesig said.
The politician emphasized that Russia has already “grossly crossed the red line” by unleashing an aggressive war against Ukraine.
“This has put the entire peace in Europe at risk. And I believe that this is why we cannot send any such signals at this time,” she emphasized.
It was previously reported that former Stasi agent and longtime Putin associate Matthias Warnig is developing a plan to launch Nord Stream 2 with the support of American investors.
The 1,234 km long gas pipeline was built despite opposition from Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states. However, due to US sanctions, the project never received certification.
USM previously reported that the Nord Stream operator wants to sue insurers — they refused to compensate for losses from the explosions in September 2022.
