“Noosfera” arrived at the Antarctic station “Artstovskyi”


In 19 days, the icebreaker “Noosfera” reached from Cape Town to King George, where the Polish Antarctic station “Artstowski” is located.

On the night of Wednesday, December 6, the icebreaker “Noosfera” reached King George Island in the Antarctic, where the Polish Antarctic Station “Artstowski” is located. This was reported by the National Antarctic Science Center.

The ship’s journey from Cape Town to King George was 4,125 miles (6,638 km) and took 19 days.

Unloading will continue at “Noosfera” today and in the following days. 9 containers with almost 450 tons of various things and 140,000 liters of fuel for “Artstovsky” need to be delivered to the shore.

Already on December 11, it is planned to send the ship to the Ukrainian station “Akademik Vernadskyi”.

As previously reported by USM, polar explorers at the Akademik Vernadskyi station dug a snow tunnel for more than a week before the arrival of the “Noospfera” icebreaker.
