Now also online: The Shipping Administration has opened the acceptance of applications for exams

Seafarers can apply for exams to obtain an international certificate. The service is also available online, and the document itself allows you to operate a pleasure boat.

“The acceptance of applications for exams for obtaining an international license for the right to operate a pleasure boat has begun. In particular, with the possibility of submitting online. The exams will be conducted using a computer testing system, which makes it impossible to influence the result,” the Shipping Administration said.

The procedure meets the requirements contained in the Procedure for Training and Confirmation of the Qualifications of Pilots of Small Vessels and Jet Skis. This also applies to the issuance of an international license for the right to operate a pleasure boat, approved by the order of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine dated 07.01.2023 No. 8.

“The test contains 10 test questions taking into account the type of vessel and sailing area. Each question has three possible answers, one of which is correct. The total time for testing is 20 minutes,” the department said.

The application and the documents attached to it can also be submitted in paper form. A sample application can be viewed at the link.

Confirmation of the candidate’s qualifications is carried out upon his written application.

The following documents must be attached to the application:

– a copy of the document confirming the successful completion of theoretical and practical training at the National Technical University (upon presentation of the original);

– a color photo card measuring 3 x 4 cm (on matte paper, if the application is submitted in paper form);

– a copy of a valid document on fitness to operate a vessel (pleasure/small vessel) based on health (upon presentation of the original);

– personal card of the pilot of a pleasure/small vessel;

It should be noted that if the application is submitted electronically, each document must be signed by the KEP (except for the photo card). Only such applications will be processed by Shipping Administration specialists.
