Odesa Port Plant asks Zelenskyy to help start production
The working team of the Odesa Port Plant published an open appeal to the President of Ukraine with a request to facilitate the start of production.
In the appeal to President Zelenskyy, the team reminded that on May 31, the head of state instructed to launch the main production facilities of the Odesa Port Plant no later than August 1, 2023.
According to the statement, after that, a full range of repair and revision works were carried out at the plant, and the main facilities of the Odesa Port Plant were prepared for start-up operations. Production was planned to start on August 7.
Instead, the State Property Fund of Ukraine as the main shareholder on behalf of the state decided on the impracticality of launching the main capacities of the Odesa Port Plant. The State Property Fund based its decision on the fact that the contract for the supply of ammonia and urea concluded by JSC ” Odesa Port Plant ” does not fully meet the interests of the company.
“The decision on the impracticality of launching the main production facilities of JSC ” Odesa Port Plant ” by the State Property Fund caused a significant public outcry among the workforce,” the statement reads.
The company emphasized that the shutdown of the plant’s capacity will lead to inevitable processes of destruction of the equipment and the loss of the flagship of the chemical industry of Ukraine.
As a reminder, Odesa Port Plant specializes in the production of ammonia, urea, liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen. The main shareholder of the plant is State Property Fund, which is owned by the state — the Fund owns 99.5667% of Odesa Port Plant shares.
At the same time, the ex-head of the State Property Fund, Rustem Umyerov, said that currently the Fund does not have actual control over the Odesa Port Plant.
