Odesa should become the main grain hub

European countries are considering the issue of protecting the ports of Great Odesa from Russian shelling because of their importance for food security.

Odesa must function as the most important hub for grain export, so European partners are considering strengthening the protection of the port from shelling. This was stated by Polish EU Affairs Minister Adam Szlapka, Ukrinform writes.

According to the minister, Poland is trying to help Ukraine by supplying weapons and is persuading other partners to also provide Ukraine with means of defense.

“Odesa’s activities are very important not only for the Ukrainian economy, but also for the stability of the world. Odesa should work as the most important grain hub for Ukraine, so we have to convince our partners that help is needed,” Shlapka emphasized.

At the same time, the German Minister for European Affairs, Anna Lührmann, said that Germany agreed to transfer the third Patriot system to protect the port of Odesa. The military is now learning to use it.

“We understand that Odesa has a critical point of importance in the export of grain, therefore many efforts are focused on the issue of strengthening the air defense system. A lot of efforts will be focused on the strengthening of the PPO and on improving the work on the export of grain,” Luhrman added.

As USM wrote, a new marine drone was recently presented in Odesa.
