A series of practical trainings were conducted to increase the level of environmental safety in the Odesa Sea Port area.
This was reported by the Odesa Sea Port Authority.
As part of the trainings, the measures of the “Plan for Handling Ship Waste and Cargo Residues”. In particular, the participants practiced the procedure for the crew of a vessel when receiving liquid pollutants from a vessel at the port berth.
In particular, they underwent training on the localization and elimination of possible spills of oil products and other harmful substances in the port area. During the events, a modern skimmer designed to clean the water surface was used.



“Such trainings are conducted in accordance with the plans and programs of the enterprise’s environmental management. They are aimed at improving personnel actions in the event of possible emergencies,” the Port Authority noted.
As a reminder, as a result of the oil spill near Novorossiysk, pollution may spread to the coast of Ukraine. Satellite images also recorded the stretching of the oil slick.
