Opinion: blocking the border of Ukraine will not significantly affect the export of agricultural products
Blocking the Ukrainian-Polish border will not significantly affect the overall export of agricultural products from Ukraine, but the situation may be worse for certain industries.
This information was shared by First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi in an interview with UNIAN.
“About 7-8% of total exports are transported by road. Exports are going through other directions, but not everything has stopped here. Therefore, the loss in terms of volumes is 2-3%. From the point of view of cost, it is more — you can lose 5-7%. If taken for the entire agricultural sector, it may not be critically dangerous, but for specific industries it can be very painful,” Vysotskyi said.
As for the impact of the blockade on the supply of products to Ukraine, according to him, there are currently no signs of a shortage of such items as fertilizers and seeds.
“If we are talking about means of production for the spring sowing campaign, then the main deliveries will be in February-March, partly in April. If the blocking of the border will continue, conditionally, until March, then we will have to watch the progress,” explained the first deputy minister.
