Passage through the Suez Canal becomes six times more expensive for some vessels
The Suez Canal Administration will increase additional fees for the passage of ships by sea six times.
From September 1, 2024, fees for vessels using electronic services while passing through the Suez Canal will increase sixfold. “APK-Inform”writes about this.
The additional fees will now be $300, up from the current $50. However, starting in 2025, this fee will be increased to $500.
Fees for the use of electronic services are an additional type of fees when ships pass through the Suez Canal. Vessels from which the basic toll is not charged for passing through the canal, as well as vessels with a load of up to 300 tons, are exempt from paying it.
Previously, USM wrote that due to the shipping crisis in the Red Sea, the revenues of the Suez Canal fell by half.
