Photo of the day: “Noosfera” has completed its third and longest Antarctic season
The Ukrainian research vessel “Noosfera” completed its third Antarctic season.
Late in the evening of May 8, the icebreaker docked in the port of Cape Town (South Africa), the National Antarctic Science Center reports .
It was the longest Antarctic season of “Noosfera” with the largest scientific program.
“Even in conditions of full-scale war, we not only support, but also develop the activities of our scientific flagship. This time we have logistics support, international cooperation, and the largest research program. With a smile, I recall the words of skeptics about “a rusty trough standing in the port.” “Noosfera” performed brilliantly in the third Antarctic season, for which I am grateful to both of its crews,” said the director of the National Center for Scientific Research Evgeny Dykiy.
The vessel will remain in the port of Cape Town until the next Antarctic season.
It should be noted that the return of “Noosfera” to Ukraine is planned after the end of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.
