Poland’s new agriculture minister supported the embargo on grain from Ukraine

The network noticed that Stefan Krajewski previously supported the preservation of the embargo on Ukrainian grain and generally considers agricultural imports from Ukraine to Poland excessive.

This is reported by Latifundist.

Recall that until July 23, 2025, the Minister of Agriculture of Poland was Czesław Siekiewicz, but now the country has approved a new cabinet of ministers and Stefan Krajewski has received the position.

Thus, in 2023, Stefan Krajewski supported the preservation of the embargo on Ukrainian grain. The new minister also criticized the publication of a list of Polish companies that imported grain from Ukraine.

Already in 2025, in particular, in July, Krajewski supported the agreement between Poland and Ukraine, which contained a bilateral safeguard clause regarding situations when “excessive imports from Ukraine may disrupt the market in one or more EU member states.” However, he noted that this clause applies only to products that benefit from additional preferences under the new agreement. In his opinion, there are no mechanisms to protect the market from excessive imports of products that have already been liberalized, such as rapeseed.

Krajewski also noted that Poland continues its call for the creation of a special compensation fund for EU agricultural producers to compensate for potential losses caused by excessive imports from Ukraine, similar to the fund provided for in the context of the EU-Mercosur agreement.

USM previously reported that Ukraine and Poland plan to jointly develop water transport.
