Polish carriers have begun blocking the border with Ukraine

Polish carriers blocked the Yagodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint on the border with Ukraine.

The strike began on May 12 at 4:00 p.m., the State Customs Service reported.

The organizers’ main demands:

• drawing attention to the situation in the field of transport on the territory of Poland;

• returning permits for international transport by Ukrainian carriers to enter Poland.

As announced, the protesters are allowing one vehicle per hour in both directions.

Buses, humanitarian aid, and fuel tankers are also being allowed to enter Ukraine.

Earlier, USM reported that Polish carriers had announced a protest action on the border with Ukraine.

“We expect the case to go to court,” said Rafal Mekler, a representative of the Committee for the Protection of Transport Carriers and Employers of Poland.

According to him, Ukrainian carriers are “crowding out” Polish companies from the market with cheaper fares, particularly on routes between Poland and the EU, as well as within the European Union.
