Polish farmers are protesting because of the “liberalization of trade” with Ukraine
Polish farmers blocked the movement of trucks heading from Ukraine to Poland in front of the “Medyka” checkpoint.
The exit of trucks to Poland through the Sheghini checkpoint is blocked, the State Border Service reported.
Passenger cars, buses, and trucks are allowed to enter Ukraine as usual.
A group of Polish farmers protest near the border crossing in Medyka in the Subcarpathian region near Poland’s border with Ukraine. The protest is expected to last until 4:00 p.m., European Truth reports.
According to the communiqué published by the organization Podkarpacka Oszukana Wieś, the reason for the protest is “resumption of trade liberalization with Ukraine.”
Earlier, the ministries of Ukraine and Poland reached an agreement on extending the validity of permits for cargo transportation to third countries. The permits will be valid until the end of June 2023.
We will remind you that the European Commission extended the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain to five EU countries (Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia). The restrictions will be in effect until September 2023.
