Polish farmers stopped the blockade of the border with Russia

Polish farmers suspended their protest on the border with Russia in connection with the upcoming holidays.

Farmers suspended their protest at the border with the Russian Federation in Grzehotki, reports Polskie Radio.

On Wednesday, March 20, farmers from the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship blocked the border crossing, allowing one car per hour.

Farmers are surprised by how many goods arrive in the EU from Russia.

“The European Union has not yet adopted a decision to ban the import of grain from Russia to the Community. Despite the fact that countries have condemned Russia’s attack on Ukraine, trade with Russia continues. They transport a lot of things, in particular they transport gas and not only liquefied gas, one driver said that he transports methane,” said Jerzy Salitra from the board of the Warmian-Masurian Chamber of Agriculture.

Despite this, the organizers of the action said that the blockade of the border will be stopped in connection with the upcoming Easter holidays. Earlier, the protesters were more determined, announcing a blockade of the Russian border for at least a month.

Previously, USM reported that Poland deported two Ukrainian journalists who were investigating cargo transportation on the Russian-Polish border.

We will remind, despite the embargo on some types of agricultural products from Ukraine, Poland continues to import the same items from Russia and Belarus. Ukrainian journalists learned about it.

Probably, following this and after that, the head of the Polish government, Donald Tusk, said that Poland will study the experience of Latvia regarding the introduction of an embargo on the import of agricultural products from the Russian Federation and, perhaps, will soon take similar steps.

Agrarians from Lithuania sided with Ukraine the day before. According to farmers, a much bigger problem for the agricultural market is Russian grain entering the country.
