Polish farmers want to disrupt Zelenskyy’s visit because of the import of Ukrainian grain
In Poland, farmers who oppose the import of Ukrainian grain plan to disrupt the planned visit of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Farmers are threatening to disrupt Zelenskyy’s visit if the Polish authorities do not fulfill their demands, the Interia portal reports.
Last week, the Polish farmers’ association Oszukana Wieś reached an agreement with the Polish government to meet 11 demands, including stronger border controls, compensation and soft loans.
On April 3, the farmers stated that the authorities had not fulfilled any of the points.
“On the border, as it was (Ukrainian grain – ed.), so it goes. It even accelerates. To make sure of this, it is enough to go to Hrubeszów or Dorohusk,” commented Marcin Sobchuk, a representative of Oszukana Wieś.
Today, April 4, farmers resumed protests in the village of Chernychyn near the border town of Hrubeshiv. They are fully determined to organize protests on Wednesday, during Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Poland.
“Warsaw should reconsider this issue. If the minister (of agriculture – ed.) wants to spoil his visit to the capital on Wednesday, we can arrange it. As well as the arrival of the Ukrainian president,” said Sobchuk.
Earlier, USM reported that Romanian farmers plan заблокувати пункт пропуску to block the Isaccia checkpoint on April 7, as a sign of protest against large shipments of tax-free grain from Ukraine.
According to the Romanian producers of agricultural products, they were forced to lower the price of grain, but could not sell it. The reason is that transport logistics were focused on transportation from Ukraine, and warehouses and terminals in ports on the Black Sea were blocked.
