Reuters: White House seeks plan for possible easing of sanctions against Russia

The United States is developing a plan for the potential easing of sanctions against Russia, in particular on certain legal entities and individuals.
This was reported by Reuters, citing an unnamed American official.
The journalists note that the White House has asked the State Department and the Treasury Department to prepare a list of sanctions that could be eased for discussion by American officials with Russian representatives in the coming days.
The plan is to present this list “as part of the administration’s broad negotiations with Moscow on improving diplomatic and economic relations,” the publication’s sources note. It is currently known that oil carriers, the so-called “shadow fleet,” as well as companies building ships and missiles used on ships, fall under the sanctions. It is currently unknown whether anyone from the shipping industry is on the list of potential candidates for sanctions relief.
Reuters also notes that it is not known what exactly Washington may demand in exchange for easing the sanctions.
We previously reported that the US announced large-scale sanctions against the Russian tanker fleet.
