Romania and Bulgaria were called upon to provide ships to protect vessels with Ukrainian grain

In Germany, Ukraine’s neighboring countries were called upon to provide military protection for vessels with Ukrainian grain.

“This is what I consider realistic,” Markus Faber, a defence politician of the Free Democratic Party of Germany, said about the potential escorting of ships with Ukrainian grain in the Black Sea, ntv channel reports.

According to Faber, Turkey has said that it can imagine it. The politician also believes that other Black Sea countries — Bulgaria and Romania — should provide their ships to protect ships.

“They would also grant their sovereign waters to grain ships, and in any case have ships in place to control their borders,” commented Faber.

The politician believes that the creation of a NATO mission for this purpose is quite realistic. At the same time, he noted that Germany will not be able to attract its ships, because its navy “is at the limit of what it can afford.”

The states neighboring Ukraine are the first to have an obligation to protect vessels with Ukrainian grain, Faber summarized.
