Russian fertilizers can be sold in Ukraine under the guise of imports from other countries.
The Russian economy exists in a paradigm of circumventing sanctions. Mineral fertilizer from the Russian Federation is supplied to third countries, where the certificate of the country of origin is changed using forged documents. Subsequently, Ukraine purchases fertilizers without being sure where the product actually comes from. This was announced by the chairman of the tax committee of the parliament, Danylo Hetmantsev.
Currently, the exact volume of Russian fertilizer entering Ukraine is unknown. However, the official is convinced that the threat of illegal imports really exists.
“Situations when Russian fertilizer is imported into the customs territory of Ukraine from another state under fake certificates of origin must be strictly countered. After all, any export from the Russian Federation to Ukraine is prohibited,” Hetmantsev emphasized.
According to Derzzhovshininform, in 5 months of 2023, Ukraine purchased 267.4 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers from Uzbekistan, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.
