Russia creates “Orthodox” software for ports due to sanctions

Russia is urgently trying to replace Western software for managing shipping in ports and on warships.
Rosmorport has ordered new software for controlling vessel traffic from Sitronics, Russian media reports.
The Russian Federation has called the software “Orthodox” because it is entirely based on Russian software.
In parallel, Intellect-Consulting is developing the Lotzman system, which works on tablets with maps of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The Russians said that they are already implementing it in Sochi, Astrakhan “and even in Syrian Latakia”. They plan to further expand it to Novorossiysk, Tuapse and occupied Crimea.
After the introduction of sanctions and the withdrawal from the Russian market of the Finnish company Wärtsilä, which owned the Navi-Harbour system (previously created in the USSR as Transas), Russian ports were left without support for key navigation technologies.
The system was sold to Finland for 210 million euros in 2018. After Finland joined NATO in 2023, Russian ports were cut off from access to the system.
