Russia is losing ground in the Mediterranean Sea — the Ukrainian Navy announced a logistical crisis

Russia is facing serious logistical difficulties in the Mediterranean Sea due to the closed Bosphorus Strait.

This was stated by the spokesman for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmitro Pletenchuk, during a telethon, Ukrinform reports.

According to Pletenchuk, the Russian naval group can no longer fully use the fleet in the Mediterranean region, as it was before. Despite some attempts to demonstrate its presence, in particular the so-called “flag demonstration”, the situation for the Russians has become much more complicated.

The spokesman for the Navy of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces noted that “very interesting and to some extent tragic” events are taking place in the Mediterranean Sea for the Russians. Apparently, the Russian Federation is forced to leave its base in Tartus (Syria), which it has been building for more than half a century.

Russian ships can call at ports in Algeria or Egypt, but these are civilian infrastructure, not military bases. Therefore, to carry out tasks in the Mediterranean, Russia will have to bypass Europe via the Atlantic, which complicates and prolongs logistical operations.

USM previously reported that Russia’s shipbuilding program is failing: a shortage of components, outdated projects, and sanctions are crippling the industry.
