Russia may lose its only aircraft carrier

In russia, shipbuilders and the military are trying to shift responsibility for bringing the only russian aircraft carrier to a critical state.

The only russian aircraft carrier – the cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov – is in a state of emergency. The ship is currently at the 35th ship repair plant in Murmansk, reports the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine.

Recently, the russians decided to transfer the ship from dry dock to one of the piers of the ship repair plant to complete the repair work. However, even at the stage of preparation, it became clear that the cruiser is not capable of moving under its own power.

Therefore, the fleet management tried to move the ship with the help of several tugs. However, even this turned out to be impossible due to the critical condition of the ship’s hull. The ship repairmen warned that the condition of the “Admiral Kuznetsov” does not, in principle, allow it to be launched, because it is highly likely that it will tip over on its side and sink.

When the diving teams examined the ship’s hull, the russians found that the metal structures below the third deck had undergone significant corrosion. The holds are completely filled with muddy water, which makes a detailed examination of the ship from the inside impossible.

Officials of 35 ship repair plants and the management of the fleet are trying to shift the responsibility for the critical condition of the “pearl” of the russian Navy to each other. According to the available data, there is not even an approximate time frame for the completion of the repair of “Admiral Kuznetsov” and its return to service.
