Russia received a new frigate “Admiral Golovko”

The Russian Navy received a new frigate “Admiral Golovko” project 22350.

On December 25, the frigate was handed over to the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation, rosZMI reports.

Earlier, on November 23, the ship completed state trials.

The frigate was to be launched in 2017. But these plans failed due to problems with the power plant, for the installation of which Ukrainian-made gas turbines were missing.

“Admiral Golovko” is the third frigate of project 22350 and the second serial ship of the series. Currently, the Northern Fleet of Russia has two frigates of this type – “Admiral Gorshkov” and “Admiral Kasatonov”.

The ships of project 22350 are functionally similar to cruisers. The tonnage is more than 4.5 thousand tons. They have a wide arsenal of high-precision weapons. The frigate can carry up to 16 Kalibr, Onyx, or Zircon hypersonic missiles.

The Russians plan to build 8 ships of project 22350. In addition to those that have already been launched, there are five more that are at the Severnaya Verf enterprise at various stages of construction.
