Russia to launch submarine into sea for first time in 2026, Navy says

The Ukrainian Navy has confirmed the first seagoing mission of a Russian submarine in 2026.

This was reported by the spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Captain 3rd Rank Dmytro Pletenchuk, on television.

“We can record the first seagoing mission of a submarine this year. On the other hand, this is not something new. Therefore, I can note that the situation has not undergone any drastic changes,” Pletenchuk said.

He added that other ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, in particular patrol and missile boats, remain at their bases.

Earlier, Pletenchuk stressed that the enemy’s naval and boat fleet in the Black and Azov Seas has no prospects for an active presence in the water area — the task of the Ukrainian Navy is to prevent the seizure of any areas of the sea.

Earlier, USM wrote that the attack on the submarine in Novorossiysk showed the vulnerability of Russian ports to underwater attacks.
