Russia uses the Caspian Sea for strikes on Ukraine, — the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Russia uses the waters of the Caspian Sea to launch missiles over Ukraine from strategic aviation.

This was announced by the spokesman of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro Pletenchuk, on the air of the telethon, NV reports.

Pletenchuk noted that although there are missile carriers in the Caspian Sea capable of launching Kalibr sea-based cruise missiles, this region is mainly used for airstrikes.

“The Russians often use the Caspian Sea to launch strikes from the air. They enter this water area specifically and from where they have launch lines in order to shell Ukraine. They are doing this, most likely, so that in the event of an unusual launch of old rockets, there will be enough missiles to prevent casualties among their own civilian population,” the spokesman said.

He added that the Caspian Sea is one of the five main bases of the Russian Navy. This region is also strategically important due to its connection with the Azov-Black Sea basin through the Volgodon Canal, which Russian forces used to transfer their vessels between the regions.

Earlier, USM reported that drones of the Defense Intelligence of the MoDof Ukraine for the first time hit Russian ships in the Caspian Sea at a distance of 1,500 km from the border. Thus, as a result of the morning strike on November 6, at least two ships were damaged in the Republic of Dagestan.
